Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter concluded with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used the enemy for his own means, entering the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires revenge.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty location.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the remote area in quest for Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Planners tables.
